Rio Ronaldo is back down to a handy mark and makes plenty of appeal at 6/1 to take advantage and land the spoils in the 7.35 at Windsor this evening.
Mike Murphy’s charge won over 6f at the track on his second start this season, travelling strongly off the pace before being produced to lead inside the last and showing a nice turn of foot to readily beat Acolyte by 1 1/4 lengths off a mark of 77.
The runner-up has since gone on to land a brace of handicaps and is now rated 93, and that represents very strong from in the context of this contest.
Rio Ronaldo was then far from disgraced when fifth of 11 to subsequent Stewards’ Cup winner Magical Memory at Leicester off 83 and didn’t run too badly at Doncaster when fourth off 82.
Although not at his best lastv time out when well beaten at Newmarket, the three-year-old has been dropped a couple of pounds is now able to race off 80.
That is just 3lb higher than when last successful, and makes Rio Ronaldo looks well weighted given how the form of that race has panned out.
He also looks the type who should have no problem with the drop down to 5f, and with Pat Dobbs in the saddle everything points to a big run.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Rio Ronaldo (6/1 Boylesports – BOG)
