Rob fancied to Rocket home

Rocket Rob was a massive eye-catcher last time out and rates a solid bet at 9/2 in the 6.45 Lingfield now dropped in grade with the blinkers back on.

Willie Musson’s gelding scored a long overdue success when coming with a late run after being slowly away to dead-heat at Bath two starts back off a mark of 70.

Things then didn’t go to plan in his attempt to follow up at the same venue over 5f  where he quickly found himself behind before running on strongly to finish a never nearer 5 length 8th of 15 to Jedward off today’s mark of 72.

However he was not knocked about once it was clear he would not be winning, and he showed that he was ready to strike again 7 days ago when a running on 6th of 18 to Trade Secret in a class 3 contest over 6f at headquarters.

The six-year-old travelled well at the rear that day and kept on nicely to be beaten 2 3/4 lengths at the line without being knocked about.

He now drops down in grade to class 5 company, and it’s interesting that connections are now refitting him with the blinkers off what looks a nice handicap mark.

Based on his old form is very well weighted off 72 if getting the breaks, as he was placed last year off 10lb higher and ran a blinder off 84 when a close up strong finishing 8th of 20 to Secret Witness in a  competitive class 3 event at Doncaster last August.

The form of that contest gives him every chance at the weights in this lower grade contest, and he looks sure to take the world of beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Rocket Rob (9/2 bet365 – BOG)
