Rock a Doodle Doo shaped as if coming back to form last time out and is of serious interest at 7/1 now dropped in grade in the 8.35 Kempton.
William Jarvis’ gelding ran well in a number of hot handicaps last year, landing a valuable prize at Ascot off a mark of 89 when showing a good turn of foot to beat Blissful Moment and then running a cracker of an 8lb higher mark next time out when fourth of 16 to Fox Hunt in the Duke Of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot.
His form then tailed off, and although he is yet to trouble the judged in two starts this term he shaped far better than his finishing position suggests at Windsor last week when 7th of 9 to Vasily.
Held up that day, he came under pressure three from home before making good headway on the outside of the field and weakening out of contention at the furlong marker.
Although eventually beaten over 10 lengths he was allowed to come home in his own time once it was clear he would not be winning.
Given that he still looked in need of the run beforehand he should now be spot on to do himself justice, and this class 3 contest is by far the easiest task he has faced for some time.
His current mark of 92 also looks workable judged on his effort off 97 at Royal Ascot last year, and at the odds on offer I think he is overpriced.
