Rowe Park a 9/1 Ascot ace

Rowe Park is on a handy mark in the 4.50 at Ascot and looks decent value at 9/1 to take advanatge having shaped well last time out.

Linda Jewell’s 10-year-old has been a terrific servant over the years, winning 11 times in 60 starts.

His last success came at Newmarket last August where despite getting upset and rearing in the stalls he ran on gamely to get the better on Invincible Lad by a head off a mark of 81.

He went on to finish runner-up off 84 on the all-weather on his penultimate start of 2012 where he got nailed in the shadow of the post to be beaten a head, and ran really well on his first start this year when third of 8 to Yeeow at Kempton off the same rating.

That was followed by a solid fourth to Khawatim at Kempton, and although then not at his best on his penultimate start when 6th of 7 to Monumental Man at Lingfield he quickly put that effort behind him when returned to the turf and finishing a 1 3/4 length fifth of 12 to Asian Trader at Sandown last time out off 83.

He tracked the leaders that day and held every chance a furlong from home before being unable to quicken near the finish, and it was an effort which suggested his winning turn could be near.

The handicapper has since dropped him 1lb to 82, and that means that he is now just 1lb above his last winning mark.

It gives him every chance from a handicapping perspective, and it’s interesting that he is now also reunited with Saleem Golam for the first time in nearly 12 months as he was onboard when the gelding last scored.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Rowe Park (9/1 bet365, BetVictor – BOG)
