Shades Of Blue created a good impression when scoring on debut over course and distance and looks a solid each-way bet at 9/2 in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot today (2.30).
After dwelling at the start, Clive Cox’s filly showed plenty of pace to chase the leaders before squeezing through a narrow gap to challenge inside the final furlong.
She then showed a smart turn of foot to readily beat Queen Of Mermuda by 1 1/4 lengths.
Queen Of Mermuda has come out and won twice since and the third home Co On Leicester also won next time up.
It gives the form a solid look and the manner of the victory suggestde Shades Of Blue was an exciting prospect who needing keeping firmly onside.
She looks the type who should have plenty more to offer and that fact that has course winning form to her name is a big plus.
Cox won the race last year with Heartache and Shades Of Blue looks to have every chance of following in that one’s foosteps.
Wes Ward’s Chelsea Cloisters commands plenty of respect after bolting up on debut, but she looks plenty short enough in the betting to me and worth taking on at the odds on offer.
