Salient has dropped to a handy mark and makes plenty of appeal at 6/1 in the 5.20 at Lingfield today.

Michael Attwater’s charge is a sevenn time winner at the venue, and the last of those successes came off a mark of 60 in this contest 12 months ago.

He went on to win at Goodwood off 56, and ran very well five starts back when a 1 1/4 length runner-up to Tempuran off a reating of 60.

The 12-year-old is now able to race off a reduced mark of just 54, and that gives him major claims at the weights on the pick of his form.

Salient also has the ervices of Callum Shepherd in the saddle who gets a good tune out of him and has partnered him to his last two successes, and this looks a weak class 6 contest for the grade in which he looks weighted to take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Salient (6/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
