Secret Asset handicapped to strike

Secret Asset has slipped to a career-low mark and looks worth an interest at 7/1 in the 5.40 at Chelmsford City today after shaping well last time out.

Jane Chapple-Hyam’s gelding is on a losing run of 11 having not scored since landing a class 2 handicap at York back in July 2013 off a mark of 96.

The 10-year-old was put up to 100 after that success, and is now able to race of just 80.

That gives the veteran a big chance from a handicapping perspective, especially following a return to form last time out when an eye-cathing third of 19 to Straegic Force at Kempton.

He was held-up well off the pace that day before staying on strongly to be beaten just 1 1/4 lengths and had a couple of today’s rivals – Whaleweigh Station and Lady Brigid – in behind.

That effort suggested the veteran’s time was near, and off an unchnged mark he looks weighted to run a huge race in the hands of Martin Dwyer.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Secret Asset (7/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
