Sequester caught the eye on handicap debut and is of major interest at 5/2 in the 3.15 at Beverley.
David Lanigan’s filly shaped with plenty of promise in three runs last season, finishing third on her debut and catching the eye on her final start when a tenderly handled 8th of 13 to Maria Bella in a mile contest at Kempton.
The daughter of Selkirk was never placed to challenge at any stage in the latter before keeping on from the rear to be beaten just over 8 lengths.
She finished just in front of Talmada, who went on to finsih third to the promising Bright Approach in a decent looking Newbury maiden before scoring by 7 lengths at Haydock.
To me, Sequester has clearly been brought along with handicaps in mind and that looked to be the case when she made her debut in that sphere over a mile at Lingfield on her seasonal reappearance last month.
She was a big drifter in the market that day, and raced strongly on the heels of the leader until being unable to find any extra when asked to quicken at the furlong marker and finishing a 4 length fourth of 9 to Merry Me.
Her jockey Ted Durcan did not give her a hard time once it was clear she would not be winning, and she ran as if needing the run after 187 days on the sidelines.
Sequester showed enough to suggest she would be more than capable of winning races of her current mark of 65, and with that run under her belt is likely to be a different proposition this afternoon.
The switch to turf and the a step up in trip to 1m 2f also looks sure to suit, and she is by far the least exposed in the line-up.
Connections appear to have found Sequester a golden opportunity to regsiter her first success, and it will be disappoiting if she does not take it.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Sequester (5/2 BetVictor, Paddy Power – BOG)
