Severn Crossing and Oisin a tasty punt at 25/1

The lightly-raced Severn Crossing looks worth a wager at 25/1 in the 6.00 at Kemptkin this evening now partnered by Oisin Murphy for the first time and dropped in trip.

Bill Muir’s gelding is yet to trouble the judge in five starts, but ran well on seasonal reappearance over 1m 3f at this venue when sixth of 11 to Gallic Destiny.

The son of Atuthorized tracked the leaders until making headway to take up the the running a mile from home and only weakened after being headed just inside the last to be beaten 4 3/4 lengths.

The third home Holberg Suit has won since, and the fifth home Lisamour – who finished just a length in front of the selection – has since gone on to score twice and is now rated 80.

That is decent form in the context of this weak looking class 6 handicap, and makes Severn Crossing look on a potentially lenient mark off a rating of 62.

The three-year-old also ran better than his finishing position suggest last time out over 1m 2f at Lingfield when again fading late on to be beaten 3 lengths into seventh behind Censorious at Lingfield, and the drop back to a mile looks sure to suit.

The booking of Murphy also catches the eye, as he has ridden just five times for the stable in the past 12 months – winning once and finishing placed on two occasions.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Severn Crossing (25/1 Boylesports, Coral – BOG)
