Siannes Star taken to shine under Jonjo

Siannes Star looks the answer to the conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle at Market Rasen today (5.20) no fitted with the hood and partnered by Jonjo O’Neill Jr for the first time.

This Brian Ellison trained six-year-old ran well here last June when runner-up to Mystical Legend and also posted a solid effort on handicap debut when a 4 1/2 length third of four to Iolani at Sedgefield back in October off a mark of 115.

He was then given a break and after shaping as if needing the run when fifth at Catterick posted an improved effort at this venue last time out when a 10 1/4 length fourth of eight to Musical Slave off 114.

Siannes Star raced too freely on the heals of the leaders but through down a challenge approaching the last where he got outpaced.

He then kept on for pressure and given how the race panned out it was a performance which suggested there were races to be won with him.

He is now able to race off 2lb lower and a revised rating of 112 looks exploitable.

Connections are also now fitting him with the hood for the first time and that will hopefully enable him to settle better.

The booking of O’Neill, who is one of the best conditionals riding at present, is another big plus and suggests that connections mean business.

Ellison also does well with his runners at the venue, so there is lots to like about Siannes Star’s chances in this.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Siannes Star (4/1 bet365, BetVictor, Sky Bet – BOG)
