Sir Ivan handicapped to strike at Uttoxeter

Sir Ivan looks nicely weighted on handicap debut in the 3.15 at Uttoxeter today and is strongly fancied at 11/2 to land the spoils.

Dan Skelton’s gelding shaped well on hurdling debut when third to subsequent Grade 2 winner Days Of Heaven in a 16-runner affair at Ludlow, and duly improved on that to open his account over the obstacles at Exeter last time out.

The five-year-old got hampered mid-race and made a mistake at the last but only had to be driven out to beat Ugolin De Beaumont by 2 1/4 lengths.

He was value for more than the winning margin, and the runner-up bolted up next time out by 22 lengths to give the form a boost.

The third home Robinsson, who finished a further 1 1/4 lengths behind, also had some fair form to his name coming into the contest having finished fourth to Fascino Rustico at Bangor where today’s favourite Beg To Differ finished just 2 1/4 lengths in front of him in third.

Sir Ivan receives 3lb from beg To Differ having been allotted an opeing mark of 125, and on a line through Robinsson looks weighted to beat the jolly.

He also remaisn open to stacks more improvement, and with Ryan Mahon in the saddle looks the one they all have to beat.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Sir Ivan (11/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
