Sir Roderic can rise to the occasion at Bath

The well-treated Sir Roderic shaped as if needing the run on seasonal reappearance and with underfoot conditions in his favour looks worth a wager in the 4.00 at Bath today.

Rod Millman’s charge enjoyed a terrific 2016 when winning five times, with the last of those successes coming at Sandown off a mark of 90.
He went on to finish a solid neck second at Newmarket off 95 after which he got put up to 97.

Sir Roderic largely struggled last season as a result, but did manage to make the frame on two occasions off 93 and 90.

He is now able to race off just 81, 9lb lower than when last victorious.

It gives him major claims from a handicapping perspective on the pick of his form and he travelled well for much of the race before fading to finish 11th of 20 to High Acclaim in the Spring Mile at Doncaster six days ago.

That should have blown away the cobwebs and in receipt of weight from all his rivals he looks a major player in this.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Sir Roderic (5/ generally available – use BOG firms)
