Six Wives handicapped to strike at Southwell

Six Wives is back down to a dangerous mark and is of major interest at 15/2 to take advantage in the 3.50 at Southwell today after shaping nicely last time out.

Scott Dixon’s mare travelled strongly and only weakened out of contention close home when finishing a 1 1/4 length fourth of 10 to Sandfrankskipsgo at Wolverhampton 11 days ago and it was an effort which suggested it would not be long before she gets into the winners’ enclosure again.

She gets into this off the same mark of 75, but more importantly is back on her favoured surface where she has won three times over course and distance.

The seven-year-old is also just 1lb higher than when registering her last success on the turf at Beverley last August and 3lb lower than when last successful at this venue 12 months ago.

That gives her a massive chance at the weights, and there is one bit of form which suggests that she has the beating of her stable companion Even Stevens who is favourite for this.

That run came on the turf at Doncaster where the selection finished a 5 3/4 length fifth of 19 to that rival.

She was giving the winner 4lbs that day and now meets him on 22lb better terms.

To me that suggests that there should not be such a big price differential between the pair, and at Six Wives looks cracking value at 15/2 compared to the 7/4 on offer about Even Stevens.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Six Wives (15/2 Boylesports, Hills – BOG)
