Sole can Power to third King’s Stand success

Sole Power looks a decent bet at 5/1 to land a third consecutive success in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Adcot today.

Eddie Lynam’s gelding has a potent turn of foot, as he showed when coming from miles off the pace 12 months ago to impressively beat Stepper Point by 1 1/2 lengths.
Sole Power went on to land the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York in similar fashion, and looked as good as ever when easily landing a Group 1 contest at Medyan on seasonal reappearance.

The eight-year-old failed to back up that success when a well beaten fifth to Mustajeeb at the Curragh last month, but the race was over 6f and he has never won over it.

Sole Power was also very tenderly handled and was clearly being given a prepr to put him spot on for this, and the drop back to 5f is sure to see him in a far better light.

He also has underfoot conditions to suit, and has struck up a tremednous partnership with Richard Hughes who rides him to perfection.

Although he now faces some promising an up and coming rivals in the shape of Mecca’s Angel and Muthmir, he has been there, done it and got the T-shirt and has proven form at this level.

There would also be no more popular of a winner at the meeting, and Sole Power can create history by becoming the first horse to land the race three times.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Sole Power (5/1 Ladbrokes – BOG)
