Song handicapped to hit the high notes at Wolves

The well-weighted Song Of Parkes makes plenty of appeal 8/1 in the 3.05 at Wolverhampton today after signalling a return to form last time out.

The mare got back to winning ways when scoring over course and distance for Eric Alston back in October when swooping late to easily beat Rasaman by 2 1/2 lengths off a mark of 74 and ran well off 6lb higher when fifth of 11 to Ginger Ted here next time up.

She then joined the Peter Grayson yard and it’s fair to say that her next three efforts were very poor.

However her handicap mark slipped as a result and she showed that his time was near again when bouncing back to form last time out and finishing an excellent third of 11 to Temple Road at Lingfield.

The six-year-old travelled well for much of the 6f contest and after taking up the running two from home and kicking clear stayed on well after being headed inside the last to be beaten just 1 3/4 lengths.

She now gets into this off the same mark of 73, and that gives her every chance from a handicapping perspective if she can build on her latest effort.

Another plus is that she has a good draw to exploit in stall 1, as many of the fancied runners are drawn high, and with Slade O’Hara in the saddle taking another 5lb off her back everything looks in place for a huge run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Song Of Parkes (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
