Sovereign Bounty a 12/1 Beverley beauty

Sovereign Bounty showed progressive form in three runs as a juvenile and makes plenwty of appeal at 12/1 on handicap debut in the 2.30 at Beverley today.

Jedd O’Keeffe’s charge was far too green to do himself justice when well beaten on debut over 6f at Carlisle but then showed the benefit of that experience when finishing fourth of 12 to Spring Offensive over 7f at Redcar.

Altough eventually beaten 8 1/4 lengths, Sovereign Bounty was considerately handled and finished just 3 lengths behind the third home Al Rayyan who scored next time up and is now rated 73.

The selection then stepped up again to finish a really solid second of 11 to Savvanah Beau when last seen in action over 6f at Redcar, going down by just a neck after being unable to find any extra in the closing stages.

The step back up to 7f today should suit, and having since been gelded there could be more to come from Sovereign Bounty off what looks a workable opening mark of 70.

His trainer also boasts a strike rate of 25% at the track in the past 12 months, and the booking of Graham Lee is another positive as he has a strike rate of 20% when teaming up with the yard over the same period.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Sovereign Bounty (12/1 bet365, Boylesports, Ladbrokes, Stan James, Sky Bet – BOG)
