Spain to crush Croatia

Spain cannot be opposed at best priced 8/15 to beat Croatia tonight (7.45pm KO, Live on BBC3) and book their place in the Euro2012 quarter finals.

The conspiracy theorists have been out in force ahead of this  with a 2-2 draw good enough to guarantee that both sides progress to the last eight at Italy’s expense.

That outcome would normally be around a 16/1 poke, but bookies have priced it up at half of those odds.

However, in reality the defending champions look to hold all the aces and having turned it up a notch when thrashing Ireland 4-0 I expect them to take care of Croatia in similar fashion.

They are unbeaten in each of their last eight games at Euro Finals, and haven’t lost in three games against their opponents since tasting defeat back in 1994.

This is, however, the first competitive meeting between the two sides and I don’t expect Spain to take things easy an settle for a draw.

Le Roja haev a side packed full of talent and Fernando Torres looked particularly sharp and clinical when bagging two against ireland.

He looks like a player determined to shine in this competition, and now that he has got the bit between his teeth it would be no surprise to see him score in this.

That makes the 6/4 on offer with Blue Square and Ladbrokes to net anytime look worth a wager, and I am also going to suggest backing Spain to win 3-0 or 3-1. Both scorelines are 14/1 shots with Betfred.
