Special K-O Big Fight Preview

The biggest test so far is awaiting “Special K” Kell Brook this weekend (10pm tomorrow on Sky Sports 1) when he attempts to beat Rafael Jackiewicz in a WBA title eliminator.

This is Brook’s 3rd eliminator in his last five fights, which goes to show how much his progress has been stifled in the last two years.

However, despite noises to the contrary from the Brook’s camp he hasn’t looked the fighter he promised to be. The one time explosive looking Orthodox fighter looks a shadow of his former self and on his current form looks a mile away from being a top 5 fighter.

Promoters Eddie Hearn and the Matchroom stable have again managed to convince everyone that Jackiewicz is a formidable test, being an ex World Title Challenger and Former EBU Champion.

Jackiewicz holds a win over World ranked Opposition Jan Zaveck  (defied belief) Jackson Bonsu and Delvin Rodriquez.  On paper this looks a good fight but unfortunately for Jackiewicz it will be sorted in a boxing ring.

This is undoubtedly the right opponent for Brook as Jackiewicz is slow and easy to hit and he has landed on the canvas so often you can be sure his chin has seen better days   Even though he has not been stopped in 9 losses, the one sided points defeat at the hands of Michael Jennings in 2004 was him at his peak and Brook is a much better fighter than Jennings.

Kell Brook should be able to deal with him far easier and quicker.

At long last I finally expect Brook to show his awesome power and dispatch Jackiewicz in the early rounds.

Being the first man to beat Jackiewicz inside the distance should give Brook the credibility to be manoeuvred into a world title fight.  But is he ready???
