Speed The Plough looks worth siding with at 6/1 to take advantage of a career-low mark in the 6.30 at Windsor this evening.
Dean Ivory’s four-year-old has just one win to his name, and that came as a juvenile when making all to score over course and distance.
He missed all of last season through injury, but showed that he retains plenty of ability when an eye-catching fourth of 10 to Caminel over 6f in a class 6 contest at Nottingham on his penultimate outing.
Speed The Plough led until being headed inside the final furlong and unable to find any extra close home to be beaten just 1 3/4 lengths.
It was an effort which suggested his time was near, but he subsequently failed to back up that effort last time out at Newbury when a finish9ing last in a class 5 affair.
However he was heavily punted, suggesting that connections were expecting a big run, and having been dropped a further 1lb to 60 is running off a career-low mark.
Having started life off in handicaps on 77, Speed The Plough is undoubtedly dangerously well-treated and the drop back down into class 6 company could well see him in a far better light.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Speed The Plough (6/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
