Mick Easterby’s Ivestar is back down to a handy mark and looks good value at 10/1 to take advantage in the 5.30 at Wolverhampton today.
The gelding was last successful over course and distance off a a mark of 60 and now gets into this contest off just 55.
That should enable him to be really competitive, and although he has not been at his best in his last two runs they have come on the fibresand at Southwell and the true to the polytrack surface will suit.
Indeed, he had run really well when runner-up to Dark Lane over course and distance in November off today’s mark where he showed plenty of pace from an unfavourable wide draw to be 3 lengtsh clear two from home before getting collared late to be beaten just 1/2 a length.
The nine-year-old also ran well next time up at Kempton when runner-up to New Rich, and a repeat of those efforts would give him outstanding claims in this.
Another plus is that he now has a good draw to exploit in stall 2 and he is also reunited with James Sullivan who rode him to his last success but has only been onboard in two of his subsequent 18 starts since that victory.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Ivestar (10/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
