Spurs a steal at 8/15 to beat the Villans

Spurs have a terrific record against Aston Villa and looks bankers at 8/15 to bag another 3 points in their clash at White Hart Lane tonight (8pm KO, Live on Sky Sports 1).

The Lilywhites are now on an unbeaten run which has netted them 22 points from 24 and propelled them towards the top four and the Champions League qualification they so badly crave.

The visitors have have only won at White Hart Lane once in a decade, and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is unbeaten in his last 10 Premier League matches against them.

He is expected to be back in the dugout tonight following minor heart surgery, and another win would be an ideal tonic for him on his road to full recovery.

I can’t see his players letting him down, and it’s hard to envisage anything other than a comfortable Spurs victory.

They did the double over the Villans last season – winning 2-1 on each occasion – and the bad news for their Midlands’ opponents is that Rafael van der Vaart is expected to be back in the starting line-up after recovering from a hamstring injury.

The Dutchman scored both goals in those two encounters and it would be no surprise to see him get on the score sheet again.

Bookies make him a general 9/2 shot to break the deadlock and net the opener, and that makes plenty of appeal.

However if he starts on the bench then Jermain Defoe, who has scored three goals in his last four home league matches against Villa, looks the one to be on at 5/1.
