Spurs a super bet at 5/4

Spurs look worth a wager at 5/4 with Stan James to beat Everton at White Hart Lane today (2.05pm KO, Live on ESPN) depsite the fact that they will be without the influential Gareth Bale.

Bale fell awkwardly on his right foot late in Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final first leg 2-2 draw with Basel, and suffered an ankle injury which boss Andres Villas-Boas hopes will only keep him on the sidelines for two games.

It is a huge blow which they could do without in the crucial run-in, but they still have a squad packed full of talent and bookmakers may well have over reacted in pushing out their price to win this.

As far as the stats are concerned, five of the last six Premier League clashes between these two teams have been won by the home team (one draw).

That’s good news for Spurs, especially given that Everton have not been at their best on their travels and are without a win in their last three away from home.

In the first goalscorer market Jan Vertonghen makes plenty of each-way appeal at the 201 generally on offer.

He scored the first last weekend and has now scored four goals in his last five appearances in all competitions.

In the correct score market I like the look of a 2-1 win for spurs at odds of 9/1 with Stan James in what promises to be a hard fought and close affair.
