Spurs too sharp for Baggies

Spurs play host to West Brom today (3pm KO), and the stats suggest they are bankers at 4/7 to bag all three points.

The Baggies last win at White Hart Lane came in November 1984, since then they have lost six and drawn two of their visits to north London.

They also have a poor record in the capital winning just three and losing 22 of their 33 trips to London in the Premier League.

Spurs have also won 13 and lost just two of their last 18 PL games at home, and that West Brom have managed to keep just one clean sheet in 17 on their travels I think that the Lilywhites are worthy odds-on shots  at 4/7 with BetVictor and Paddy Power – despite their defeat on the opening weekend.

Andre Villas-Boas’ side went down 2-1 to the Magpies at St James’ but they were unlucky not to come away with a point.

They were the sharper side and Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale were both denied by the woodwork in the first half.

Defoe has scored in each of his last three league appearances against West Brom, so has to be worth a bet at 6/5 with Blue square to net anytime in the 90 minutes.

Centre-back Jan Vertonghen, who didn’t get a start against Newcastle, also looks too big at 9/1 with Ladbrokes in the same market and is definitely worth a saver.

He has scored 10 goals for Ajax last season – including 8 in 31 league games – and 8 the season before and as well as having a powerful shot is very good in the air.

I am convinced that he will carry on and score more this season, and I am also going to suggest backing him in the first goalscorer market at a standout 28/1 with Ladbrokes.
