Sturm prepares for first defence of IBF middleweight title

IBF World middleweight champ Felix Sturm is just weeks away from his first title defence after capturing the titel from our very own Darren Barker last year.

On May 31, Sturm will enter the ring at the KoenigPALAST in Krefeld, Germany, against mandatory challenger Sam Soliman from Australia.

Sturm told DAILY SPORT Boxing“I’m excited about Krefeld. It’s a great arena, the atmosphere will be electric. A lot has happened since I first fought Soliman. I learned from my mistakes and I’m much more disciplined now. I’m not emotional about this fight. I’m just doing my job and I love doing it. I enjoy every day of training and I’m in tip-top shape. Soliman will be surprised. He doesn’t know what’s coming for him. He’s the challenger, I’m the world champion. And I will remain world champion.”
