Thursday Tips: Take the 11/2 about Mickey at Haydock

Mickey ran really well last time out and at 11/2 makes plenty of appeal in the 3.30 at Haydock.

This Tom Dascombe trained six-year-old is on a long losing run as his sole success came on the all-weather maiden at Wolverhampton back in 2016.

However, he has posted some solid efforts in defeat, including when runner-up in a class 3 at this venue 13 mintsh ago off a mark of 88 and when beaten just a head by Kaeso at Chester two starts later in the same grade off 89.

Mickey is now able to race off a career-low rating of just 77 and comes into the contest having psoted an improved effort last time oyt off it when a 2 1/2 length third of 12 to Star Shield in a decent 0-75 contest over 1m at Doncaster.

That form reads well in the context of this weaker looking class 5 contest and Mickey has won once and been placed once from tewo starts in the grade.

The drop back to 7f will laos suit as he held every chance a furlong from home at Donny until being unable to find any extra.

So, if building on his latest effort, Mickey looks weighted to run a huge race for local handler Dascombe who has just over a 21 per cent strike rate with his runners at thye Merseyside venue in the last 12 months.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Mickey (11/2 Betfair, Paddy Power – BOG)
