Wheelavher looks worth an each-way interest at 11/1 on her handicap debut in the 2.30 at Taunton now upped in trip.
Claire Dyson’s mare showed that she had ability when a a promising third in a bumper at Hereford in November, and although she has not hit the frame in three starts over hurdles she has shown enough to suggest she could make an impact in handicaps off an opening mark of just 86.
The seven-year-old raced up with the pace until weakening late on in a race won by Lord Of The House over 2m 2f at Folkestone, and didn’t run as badly as her finishing position suggests when 7th of 13 to the useful O’faolains Boy over 2m 4f at Chepstow last time out where she weakened three from home after making a couple of costly errors in a contest which has worked out well.
The winner has since gone on to land the hat-trick in fine style at Bangor, the third home Fourovakind has won at Uttoxeter and the fifth home Sin Bin had previously shown a good level of form in some decent contests.
That makes the selection look potentially nicely treated in this if the step up in trip to 3m 1f brings about further improvement, and it would be no surprise if it did judged on what I have seen.
The yard also have a 50% strike rate with their runners at the track in the past 12 months (2 wins from 4 runners), and the booking of Nick Schoefield is also a positive one as he rides the track extremely well (20% strike rate).
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Wheelavher (11/1 Paddy Power, Stan James – BOG)
