Tarvini has been given a chance by the handicapper and looks worth chancing at 14/1 to take advantage and bounce back to form in the the 5.00 at Southwell today.

Jonjo O’Neill’s charge landed back-to-back handicaps at Market rasen and Cheptsow 10 months ago in the hands of today’s rider Jack Savage, and in the last of those successes stayed on strongly to beat Sur Le Mar by 3 lengths off a mark of 107.

The 10-year-old got put up to 113 after that win and was well beatren off it at Aintree when upped into class 3 company.

Tarvini was then given a break and off the track for 181 days and has subsrequently been well beatn in two starts at Chepstow and Stratford.

However, the handicapper has been quick to cut him plenty of slack and he is now able to race off 108 in this class 4 affair – just 1lb higher than when last successful in the grade.

That gives him every chnace from a handicapping perspective, and it would be no surprise to see him put in an improved showing as he has needed a couple of runs to put him straight in the past before winning

The yard also have a healthy 26% strike rate at the track in the past 12 months, and Tarvini is just the type to bounce back now back on a handy mark.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Tarvini (14/1 BetVictor, Sky Bet, William Hill – BOG)
