The only way is Purdy

It’s the battle Essex on Sky Sports 1 tomorrow night (9.30pm)  when Colchester’s Lee Purdy (16-2 9kos) faces off against  Hornchurch veteran Colin Lynes (35-9 12kos).

I think it’s fair to say that in recent outings Purdy has been looking pretty hot in doing the double over the useful and former Matthew Hatton conqueror Craig Watson – ending the proceedings on both occasions inside the 5th round.

To be brutally honest I hadn’t personally rated Purdy very highly and felt Watson would be too much for him to handle but he proved me wrong in no uncertain manner and has obviously improved leaps and bounds.

Lynes on the other hand has seen his career become stagnant. He has only had two fights and two prize-fighter tournaments on his resume in the last 2 years and possible has ££££ in his eyes when he took this fight at welterweight (stepping up from light welter) at late notice .

So getting down down to the betting business I can see things going only one way.

Purdy is younger, stronger and is more hungry than Lynes and that ultimately will make the difference.

Lynes doesn’t bring much skillswise to the table and I think that Purdy will crush him in similar fashion he crushed Watson.

I’m therefore surprised to see such a big price on offer about Purdy given what he has been displayed recently and at 9/4 he rates a maximum bet.

Daily Sport recommended bets:

3pts Purdy to ko Lynes – 9/4 VC and Boylesports

0.50pts Purdy to ko Lynes rounds 1-6 – 13/2 Ladbrokes

0.25pts Purdy to ko Lynes rounds 1-3 – 18/1 Ladbrokes
