10/1 Anthem ready to Rock
Rock Anthem has been shaping as if his time is near and with Kieren Fallon in the saddle looks overpriced at 10/1 in the finale at Windsor (5.00).
Mike Murphy’s gelding stayed on well under tender handling to finish a never nearer fifth of 11 to Yensi two outings ago at Leicester, and was far from disgraced on his latest start when 8th of 13 to Nazreef at Goodwood.
The slow early pace was totally against him that day, and he ran far better than his finishing position suggest to be beaten just 3 1/2 lengths.
He is now 1lb lower than his last success at Sandown last September where he showed a good turn of foot to come from off the pace and readily beat Beaumont’s Party by 3/4 of a length.
That form looks pretty strong in the context of this contest, and the booking of Fallon certainly catches the eye.
He looks the ideal partner for the seven-year-old who has to be held up until the last possible moment to deliver his challenge.
I had Rock Anthem priced up at no bigger than 7s for this, so at the 10/1 on offer with Ladbrokes he looks a cracking each-way play.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Rock Anthem (10/1 Ladbrokes – BOG)
Lace looks lovely at 9/1
Dressed In Lace looks solid value at 9/1 in the 3.30 at Windsor.
Andrew Balding’s filly showed some decent form in maiden’s before finally coming good at the seventh time of asking at Chepstow.
She made all that day over the 6f journey and kept on strongly despite edging right to score with far more in hand than the winning margin of a length over Middleton Flyer suggests.
The daughter of Dark Angel was then far from disgraced under a 4lb penalty when fifth of 10 to Ortac Rock last at Newbury, and the handicapper has since dropped him back 2lbs to a mark of 64.
That means that she is just a couple of pounds higher than when scoring at Chepstow, and from the foot of the weights she could take some pegging back if allowed to bowl along at the head of affairs.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Dressed In Lace (9/1 Victor Chandler – BOG, Coral)
Swoops for the 7s about Swaninstockwell
Pat Phelan looks to have found a nice opportunity for Swaninstockwell to finally open his account in the 4.30 at Windsor and he makes plenty of appeal at 7/1.
Although still a maiden after 10 starts, his run at Sandown four outings ago when runner-up to Grumeti at Sandown is a really solid piece of form in the context of this race.
He made Michael Bell’s progressive sort pull out all the stops, going down by just a head after getting slightly outpaced over a furlong out before rallying strongly at the finish.
A repeat of that effort would see him in the winners’ enclosure this afternoon, and although he has not run up to that level in his last three starts he has been given a nice break to freshen him up and is back down to a mark of 60 – just 2lb higher than his second at Sandown.
Today’s trip of 10f looks absolutely ideal, and he is well drawn to attack for a front runner.
He will certainly take some pegging back if allowed to dominate, and at 7/1 he looks an each-way steal.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Swaninstockwell (7/1 generally available – BOG firms)
