Thedeboftheyear looks terrific at Taunton

Thedeboftheyear is weighted to land the 2.50 at Taunton for the second year in succession and makes plenty of appeal to do so at 7/2.

Chris Down’s mare took advantage of a drop in the weights when gamely landing this contest 12 months ago off a mark of 109 and now gets into this off 9lb lower having shaped really well last time out.

The nine-year-old shaped better than she had for a long time when third of 7 to Grassfinch at Ludlow 11 days ago where after getting outpaced by the leading pair three from home she stayed on again on the run-in to be beaten just three lengths.

It was an effort which suggested she was coming back to something like here best, and she looks to have been primed to retain her crown in this.

She gets into this off a mark of 100 (the same as at Ludlow) and that means that she is now on a career-low.

Her three career successes have come off ratings of 120,111 and 109 and she is undoubtedly now dangerously well-treated.

Another plus is that she is a dual course and distance winner, and in four runs at the track is yet to finish out of the frame.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Thedeboftheyear (7/2 Boylesports – BOG)
