Timoshenko the Cesarewitch choice

I think the progressive Timoshenko is still ahead of his mark and terrific each-way value at 12/1 in the Cesarewitch Stakes at Newmarket today (4.10).

Like most from the yard, this Sir mark Prescott trained four-year-old has takbe his form to a whole new level since gkong down that handicap route.

Since winning on debut in that shhere at Chestow in July of last year off a mark of 58, has has stretched his unbeaten run to six and is now rated 86.

The assesor has found it impossible to get to grips with Timoshenko, whi has been brilliant placed by Prescott, and he comes into the race on the back of landing a competitive 19-runner handicap at Goodwood following a lengthy break.

After dwelling st the start, he quickly recovered to track the leaders under Morris. Timoshenk then made steady hedway three form home to take up the running in the final 100 yards and fend off the late challenge of Sensational by a neck.

It was a terriffic performance after 355 days on the sidelines and a 5lb rise in the weights looks lenient given Timoshenko’s upwardly moble profile.

He still looks potentially ahead of his mark and Prescott has made no secret that this race has been the aim for him for a long time.

Luke Morris, whose lowest riding weight in the past 12 months has been 8st, has also presumably chosen him over stable companion Land Of Oz.

With bookmakers offering enhanced place terms, Timoshenko looks well worth an each-way wager in my eyes.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Timoshenko (12/1 Sky Bet – paying 8 places, 12/1 Coral, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power – paying 7 places)
