Tina worth a tickle in Thyestes

The big betting race of the day is the Thyestes Handicap Chase at Gowran Park (3.05) and Tinakellylad makes plenty of each-way appeal at 18/1.

Mouse Morris’ charge had some very good form as a novice when he ploughed through the mud to beat the ill-fated Kempes by four lengths in a beginners chase at Clonmel.

He was then quietly fancied for the 2010 running of the National hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival on the back of that effort, and was tracking the leaders and going well when tipping up at the 17th.

The gelding then went on to finish a highly creditable third behind Golden Kite in the Munster National at Limerick before his form tailed off badly last year.

However the eight-year-old showed plenty of his old sparkle when bouncing back to form last time out and getting beaten just a head by Jack Absolute at Cork and if he can build on that effort he would have every chance of playing a leading role in this.

With Adrian Heskin taking 5lb off his back he doesn’t look too badly treated off a mark 127, and with the trip and ground ideal I can see him running a huge race.

At 18/1 with Paddy Power he looks overpriced in a market where the value has been sucked dry by the bookmakers, especially as they have enhanced place terms of 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4,5.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Tinakellylad (18/1 Paddy Power – BOG, 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4,5)
