Tourist has been shaping like a winner waiting to happen recently and off a lenient turf mark looks worth an interest at 8/1 in the 3.30 at Chepstow.
The six-year-old put in a number of creditable efforts for Derek Shaw this year before joining Ian Williams and was last successful of a mark of 85 on the all-weather at Southwell.
He now races off a turf mark of just 51, and that gives him a huge chance of notching an overdue success.
The gelding has run well in all his last three starts, and caught the eye over a mile her last time out when fading late on and finishing fifth of 16 to Tanorfan.
He forced an overly strong pace at the head of affairs that day, and his early extortions took their at the business end of affairs over a trip which stretches his stamina to the limit.
He is far better suited by today’s distance of 7f, and although he hasn’t won since January 2010 he has come down by over two stone in the weights.
That gives him a huge chance from a handicapping perspective, and this weak looking contest gives him his best chance for some time of belatedly getting his head back in front.
Under his optimum conditions and from a good draw in 10 he must go close.
Recommended bet: 2pts each-way Tourist (8/1 generally available – BOG firms)
