Two Chances for Wolverhampton Tonight

7/1 Clean Bowled can leave bookies stumped
Clean Bowled takes a significant class drop in the 6.10 at Wolverhampton and looks a great bet to hit the bookies for six at 7/1.

Brian Meehan’s colt didn’t shape too badly in three maiden runs, and put in a good effort on his nursery debut when finishing third to Royal Majestic over 7f at Kempton.

After holding a handy position that day he got outpaced two from home when the tempo was upped, but stayed on nicely inside the last to snatch third on the post.

The form of that race looks quite strong in the context of this claimer, and the son of Footstepsinthesand looks the type who is open to further improvement now stepped up in trip.

He is certainly one of the least exposed runner in the line-up, and although clearly no worldbeater he represents powerful connections whose runners always have to be respected at the track.

His handler has a 15.15% strike rate at the Midlands course in the past 12 months, having saddled 5 winners and 8 placed horses from 33 runners which have produced just over a 322 profit to a £1 level stake.

To my eyes this represents a golden oppetunity for Clean Bowled to break his duck, and I make him the one they all have to beat.

I had him priced up at around the 5/1 mark on my tissue, so the 7/1 with Boylesports looks cracking value and a great each-way bet.

Recommended bet: 2pts each-way Clean Bowled (7/1 Boylesports – BOG)

9/2 Dasho the destroyer

The return to the artificial surface makes Dasho of serious inetrest at 9/2 in last at Wolverhampton tonight (9.15).

Olivia Maylam’s gelding scored in good style over 7f on his debut at the Midlands track, showing plenty of pace and running on well to beat Spirit Of Grace.

He was then runner-up on his next two starts at the track off marks of 73 and 75, and ran a blinder on the latter when just touched off by Kingscroft over 7f having treid to blitz his rivasl from the front and been a clear leader a furlong from home.

Since those runs his attentions have been switched to the turf, and although he has run with credit on a number of occasions he has found life alot tougher.

However he did shape well after a break at Newbury last time out, where he showed plenty of earlier dash before weakening late on to finish 6th of 9 to Oneladyowner over 6f.

He was beaten just 2 1/4 lengths that day, and that run should have put him spot on for this.

The 6f trip tonight will suit him ideally, he has a decent draw in stall 5, and is also well handicapped off a mark of 75.

Everything looks in his favour, and at 9/2 he rates the best bet on the card.

Recommended bet: 4pts win Dasho (9/2 generally available – BOG firms)
