10/1 Break The Chain makes plenty of appeal
Break The Chain has been shaping as if time is near and makes plenty of appeal at 10/1 in the 2.10 at Leicester.
Caroline Bailey’s charge looked in need of the run on his seasonal reappearance at Chepstow after a lengthy lay off and ran far better than his finishing position of 7th of 13 to Drumbaloo suggests.
The five-year-old raced prominently to three out until losing his place and then weakened badly in the closing stages as race fitness clearly began to take it’s toll.
He then duly stepped up on that effort when a staying on second to Right Stuff at Huntingdon over an inadequate 2m 1f.
Today’s step up in trip to 2m 4f looks sure to see him in better light, and given that he is still relatively unexposed and open to further improvement his current mark of 107 looks exploitable.
Indeed, the gelding opened his account over hurdles whe beating Well Hello There at Southwell and went on to run a string of solid races – including a solid third to the useful Araldur off today’s mark on his final start of the campaign.
That form looks pretty strong on the context of this contest, and at the 10/1 on offer he looks overpriced and good each-way value.

6/1 Lilac ready to bloom
Lilac Belle makes her eagerly awaited handicap debut in the 3.15 at Leicester today and looks good value at 6/1 to open her account.
Alex Hales’ mare showed the first signs of any real ability when an eye-catching sixth in a Lingfield novice event on her recent reappearance.
Held up at the rear of the field, she travelled really well before beginning to make headway from three out to finish a never nearer sixth of 17 to Heather Royale.
She was not knocked about at all in the closing stages and went into my notebook as a sure fire future winner when tackling handicaps.
Cross the Flags, who finished two places ahead of her at Lingfield, has since come out and scored an easy victory at Towcester off a mark of 104 and that makes her look potentially well treated off an opening handicap mark of 90 this afternoon.
Granted normal improvement she must take all the beating in what looks a very weak race on paper.
At 6/1 she looks an each-way steal.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Lilac Belle (6/1 bet365 – BOG)
