Upswing each-way value at odds on offer in Tommy Whittle and Eamon Du Noc weighted to strike on competitive seven race card at Haydock
Upswing a tasty each-way punt in Tommy Whittle
Upswing looks nicely treated on the pick of his form and worth an each-way wager at 16/1 in the Tommy Whittle at Haydock (2.40).
The eight-year-old who was a useful staying hurdler who ran a cracker when chasing home Sausalito Sunrise in a competitive 17-runner contest at Cheltenham 13 months ago.
After held-up at the rear by jockey Barry Geraghty, Upswing made steady headway three from home bfeore staying on strongly after the last to go down by just 1 1/4 lengths.
Sausalito Sunrise, from whom Upswing was reiciving just 5lb, has since gone on to land a valuable handicap chase at Ascot and is now rated 155.
That gives the form a strong look and suggests that Upswing should be up to winning races off his current mark of 140.
Although the selection’s form has been very hit and miss since then he showed that he retained plenty if ability of his penultiamte outing in a class 1 contest at Cheltenham when a 7 1/2 length fifth of 17 to Viconte Du Noyer.
He now drops back down into class 2 company and with teh ground in his favour looks weighted to run as huge race if putting his best foot forward.
