Vasco value at 11/2 to cash-in on lenient handicap mark

Vasco D’ycy has fallen to a dangerous mark and is strongly fancied at 11/2 to take advantage  in the 3.40 at Sedgefield today now dropped in class.

Sarah Humphrey’s gelding looked a decent prospect when landing an 8-runner juvenile contest on soft ground at Newbury back in November 2012, where he made all and stayed on strongly to beat Pistol by 3 lengths.

He had Saphir Du Rheu a further 6 lengtsb back in third, and that was has developed into a top class hurdler who is now rated 165.

The selection was then highly tried after that success, finsihing sixth in the Grade 1 Future Champions’ Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow when sent off just 7/1 before being pulled up behind Ubak in a Grade 2 contest at Aintree when officially rated 133.

The five-year-old was then off the track for 210 before making his handicap debut off a mark of 126 in a class 3 contest at Wetherby in November.

He led two from home until weakening before the last to finish a 30 length fourth of 9 to leading World Hurdle hope More Of That, and ran far better than the distnace he was beaten indicates.

He then finsihed last to that rival in a very competitive class 2 contest at Haydock, before running to free last time out when fourth to Maller Tree in a class 3 affair at Fakenham.

The handicapper has since dropped him another 4lb, and he now gets into this off just 115.

That makes him look very well-weighted on the pick of his form, especially now droped into class 4 company for the first time.

This represents the easiest assignment he has had for some time, and with Jack Quinlan in the saddle taking another 3lb off his back he is simply too well-treated to ignore on ground which holds no fears.

Dauly Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Vasco D’ycy (11/2 BetVictor – BOG)
