Venus Marina fancied to sail home at Yarmouth

Venus Marina looks worth siding with at 6/1 in the 8.10 at Yarmouth this evening now dropped back in trip.

Chris Wall’s filly has shown improved form since going handicapping, and run far better than the bare result indicates in her last two starts.

In the first of those over 1m 1f at this venue, Venus Marina chased the leading pair until the furlong marker before weakening to finish an 11 length fifth of 14 to Tete Orange.

The daughter of Tiger Hill then took a keen hold and showed plenty of pace to lead until the furlong marker before weakening to finish a 9 1/4 length fourth of 11 to Plough Boy over a mile at Kempton last time out.

The third home in that contest, Palace Dragon, came out and landed a gamble in style yesterday at Lingfield and to me it was a far stronger contest than today’s as it featured several well-handicapped horses.

The drop back to 7f this evening looks sure to suit Venus Marina judged on those two runs, and off a mark of just 49 she should be capable of winning a race of this nature for a handler who has near 30% strike-rate with his runners at the track in the past 12 months.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Venus Marina (6/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
