Course specialist Vintage Fabric looks worth chancing at 14/1 to bounce back to form from a lenient mark in the 3.00 at Newton Abbot.
Nigel Hawke’s gelding has been badly out of form of late, but is now 15lb below his last winning mark as a result.
That win came in a class 4 handicap over course and distance last September, and he is now dropped into class 5 selling company for the first time.
That gives him every chance if able to recapture any of his old sparkle, and if he is to do so then this is the track where it will happen.
The 10-year-old has registered four of his 5 career successes at this venue, with the last two both coming off a mark of 95.
He is now running off a career-low of just 80, and that gives him a massive shout from a handicapping perspective.
Lisa O’Neiil, who has ridden him to his last two successes, also takes another 7lb off his back and with conditions to suit he looks overpriced.
Backing him obviously comes with risks attached given his current form, but this is a very low grade affair where he potentially has plenty going for him at his best and at the odds on offer it looks a risk worth taking.
