The semi-finals of the Coral Coronation Cup take centre stage on tonight’s Romford card (Live on Racing Post Greyhound TV, Sky 212) and Mark Wallis looks to hold solid claims of landing all three.
In the first at 8.18pm he is represented by the bang in-from Reel Trickyone who looks to have decent draw in Trap 5.
The Essex Vase and Cesarewitch winner has won his last three starts at the track and could get the race set-uop nicely for him with his kennelmate Jazz Tilly in Trap 4 likely to be heading for the rails on the run to the first.
She has enough speed to cause all sorts of problems to those on her inside and the selection looks almost guaranteed to get a clear run to the bend.
The son of Ninja Jamie should certainly have no problem out-trapping Trap 6, and he is a really tough cookie to beat when getting on the bunny.
In my book he is entitled to be favourite for this ahead of Trap 1 Droopys Odell, and looks cracking value at a standout 11/4 with Ladbrokes.
In the second semi at 8.34pm, the Wallis kennel representative is Trap 5 Hometown Honey who is performing right at the top of her game at present and looks a worthy favourite at the 5/2 generally on offer.
She looked a bit of an unlucky loser in the previous round when slowly away before running on strongly and failing to catch Shaneboy Allen by a head and given on of her better starts can make her class tell and make amends.
The bitch runs the track well, and if she can get on the bunny early doors then she is going to be extremely difficult to pass.
The final semi at 8.50pm looks at the mercy of Wallis’ Aayamzamodel (Trap 2) who could not have been more impressive when romping home by 5 lengtsh to slam Express Coral in the previous round.
The daughter of Westmead Hawk produced a blistering 13.49 sectional that day to lead her rivals a merry dance, and with Trap 3 Shaneboy Allen now a non-runner has dogs on either side which aren’t the quickest away.
She should have little difficulty leading them up and bagging the rails, and it will then take something special to come and pick her up.
At 11/8 with Betfred she rates banker material.
