Warrior Of Light worth a Royal Ascot wager at 12/1

Warrior Of Light has shaped well in two starts this season and with conditions to suit looks worth siding with at 12/1 in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot today (5.00).

David Lanigan’s gelding has always been held in high regard and showed progressive form throughout last year when winning twice.

In the last of those successes he made all on fast ground at Ffos Las to beat Quest For More by two lengths, and the runner-up is decent sort who has won twice since.

Warrior Of Light then failed two shine in his next two starts, but bounced back shaped with plenty of promise on seasonal reappearance when third to Razor Wind at Doncaster.

The four-year-old held every chance inside the fianl furling until being unable to find any extra close home, and finished 1 3/4 lengths behind the runner-up Ajman Bridge who he now meets on 3lb better terms.

Warrior Of Light backed up that run with an excellent neck second to Mutalis Mutandis at Windsor, and the winner has gone on to land a Listed contest at Nottingham to give the form a solid look.

It was an effort which suggested Warrior Of Light should be capable opf winning races off his current mark of 97, and connections are now fitting him with the cheekpieces for teh first time.

If they have the desired effect Warrior Of Light looks sure to go well in the hands of Ted Durcan on fast ground that is ideal.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Warrior Of Light (12/1 bet365, BetVictor – BOG)
