Watergate the standout bet at Lingfield

Watergate looks to have been found a nice opening in the at Lingfield and rates the standout bet on the card at 7/2.

Richard Rowe’s gelding opened his account over fences when only having to be driven out to beat the enigmatic Knock Boy by 5 lengths at Folkestone back in January off a mark of 94, and went on to be placed twice off a mark of 100.

He now gets into this off 98, and that gives him every chance at the weights in what looks a weak contest.

Prior to his success at Folkestone he had chased home Hunt Ball at Fontwell off a mark of 94, and although no match for the easy 13 lengths winner he faced an impossible task trying to conceded him 19lbs.

He also finished 35 lengths clear of the third home and the form looks strong in the context of this contest.

The six-year-old had been beaten 5 length by Master Milan in a handicap hurdle before that effort, and he now meets that rival on 29lb better terms – albeit over the larger obstacles.

The selection has also run well fresh in the past, and he showed that he handled soft ground in his run against Hunt Ball.

On the pick of his form this looks a golden opportunity for him, and he looks sure to take all the beating in the hands of Paddy Brennan.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Watergate (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
