Weekend boxing round up from around the globe

What a weekend of boxing there was with Danny Garcia v Zab Judah in the US, Jurgen Braehmer v Tony Averlant in Germany, Lucas Browne v James Toney in Australia and Martin Murray v Sergio Martinez in Argentina plus as earlier reported in DAILY SPORT Amir Khan v Julio Diaz in Sheffield.

USA result – Danny Garcia won a hard fought bout with Zab Judah on points115-112, 114-112, 116-111 with Garcia still the unified lightweight champion.

German result – Juegen Braehmer dispatched challenger Tony Averlant in just 2 rounds to retain his EU light-heavyweight crown and be on course now for a shot at Nathan Cleverly’s WBO world title.

Australian result – Lucas Browne made further steps towards a heavyweight title shot after beating veteran James Toney in a unanimous points decision.

Argentine result – Martin Murray was unlucky not to take Sergio Martinez’s middleweight world title in front of a hostile crown after dropping the Argentine twice only to lose on points 115-112. Murray show what a rough tough fighter he really is and how home town advantage 9 times out of 10 works in a fighters favour.
