Good Authority worth an each-way play at 33s

Good Authority is on a handy mark in the 5.20 at Kempton and looks worth an each-way wager at 33/1.

Karen George’s charge was disappointing on his recent start over course and distance in a class 3 contest, but that was his first run for 113 days and he has since been eased 3lb to a mark of 79 and now drops back down into class 4 company.

That gives him a big shout in this on the pick of his form, and he is is entitled to strip much fitter with that run under his belt.

The six-year-old was successful twice last year, including over course and distance, and showed even better form earlier this year in better grade contests.

He  ran a cracker to finish a 3/4 length third of 18 to Rockalong at Ascot and backed that up with a fine second of 14 to Magic City in a competitive contest at Goodwood off a mark of 83 where he produced a strong run having been given plenty to do before going down by just a length.

He then gained reward for those two efforts when overcoming trouble in running to beat Bravo Echo in a 10-runner apprentice handicap at Goodwood where he scored by 1/2 a length off a mark of 85.

Although he was not at his best in his three subsequent starts he now gets into this off a mark which is 6lb lower than when last successful and is back in the grade which saw him register that win.

To me that makes him look overpriced at 33s if he can bounce back to his best, and at the odds on offer he is simply too well-treated let go unbacked.
