Orwellian is back down to is last winning mark and looks worth an each-way wager 16/1 in the 4.15 at Redcar today now eased in grade.

Bryan Smart’s charge was successful three times last year, with the last of those victories coming at Newcastle over 7f on good-to-soft ground off a mark of 65.

The six-year-old was put up to 71 for that triumph and has failed to trouble the judge in just five starts this season.

However, Orwellian caught the eye two starts back over 6f at Thirsk when after being slowly away and outpaced he stayed on under tender handling to finish eighth of 14 to Grissom off a mark of 70.

He also wasn’t given a had time over 7f at this venue last time out when keeping on late to finish 11th of 18 and has since dropped another 2lb to 65

That is the same when last successful, and Orwellina also now drops down into class 6 company for the fist time this season.

It is the same grade as when he was last victorious, and other pluses are that he is a course and distance wininer and Phil Dennis in the saddle taking another 3lb off his back.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Orwellian (16/1 Betfred, BetVictor, Boylesports, Paddy Power, William Hill – BOG)
