Well-treated Prince Regal and Fallon worth a punt at 11/1

Prince Regal is well-treated on the pick of his form in the 5.00 at Brighton today and looks overpriced at 11/1 with conditions to suit and Kieren Fallon in the saddle.

The Tim Jarvis trained gelding was in good form last autumn when landing handicaps at Windsor and Epsom on soft ground off marks of 73 and 75.

The last of those successes came in a class 4 contest, where Prince Regal raced up with the pace and kept on well to beat Church Music by 1/2 1 length.

The four-year-old got put up 3lb for that victory, and ran well off his revised mark of 78 on seasonal reappearance when third of 13 to Mutafaakir in a class 4 contest at Thirsk.

He has since failed to build on that in five subsequent starts, but his mark has fallen as a result and he now gets into this class 5 contest off 72.

That means that he is now lower than when regsitering both of his last successes, and gives him every chance at the weights if bouncing back to his best.

The cut in the ground will certainly be in his favour, and with Fallon now in the saddle he looks too big at the odds on offer and worth siding with in what is a winnable contest.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Prince Regal (11/1 Stan James – BOG)
