Well-treated Sir Roderic worth a wager at 12s under Kirby

Sir Roderic has become dangerously well-treated and with ground conditions in his favour and Adam Kirby in the saddle for the first time looks worth an each-way wager at 12/1 in the 2.25 at Newbury today.

Rod Millman’s charge enjoyed a terrific 2016 when winning five times, with the last of those successes coming in a class 3 at at Sandown off a mark of 90.

He went on to finish a solid neck second at Newmarket off 95 after which he got put up to 97.

Sir Roderic largely struggled last season as a result, but did manage to make the frame on two occasions off 93 and 90.

He has also been disappoiting this season but has finished placed twice off rating of 74 and 72, and is now able to race off just 70 – 20lb lower than when last victorious.

It gives him major claims from a handicapping perspective on the pick of his form is this class 4 affair and the booking of Kirby to do the steering is an eye-cathing one as he has only had 11 rides for the yard – winning on two occasions.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Sir Roderic (12/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
