Well-weighted Optimistic Bias at bet at 9/1

Optimistic Bias has become well-treated and looks decent value at 9/1 to take advantage and land the spoils in the 3.55 at Warwick today. This 10-year-old has won three of his nine starts since joining trainer James Evans. The last of those successes came at Stratford back in June 2017 where he scored by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 123. Optimistic Bias was also not disgraced when a keeping on sixth of 13 to Audacious Plan in the 2017 Durham National at Sedgefield off 125 after which he spent 424 days on the sidelines. He returned to action here in December when very ring rusty and well-beaten in a handicap hurdle, but there was much more to like about his latest effort over fences a month later. Optimistic Bias chased the leaders until getting outpaced at the 16th and then weakening three from home to finish a 19 1/2 length seventh to 12 to Ange Des Malberaux. It was a run which suggested he was coming to the boil and having since been dropped another 2lb he is now able to race off 117. It makes him a big player at the weights on the pick of his form in this class 3 contest – a grade in which he has a 25 per cent strike rate – and Jonjo O’Neill Jr also takes off a handy 6lb with this claim.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Optimistic Bias (9/1 bet365, Betfair, Paddy Power – BOG)
