West Wizard looks nicely treated on chasing debut in the 1.25 at Kempton today and makes plenty of appeal at 7/1.

The gelding looked the real deal for trainer Nicky Henderson when making a winning debut in a bumper here back in March 2013, travelling strongly throughout before taking up the running on the bit two from home and sauntering six lengths clear of the useful The Pirate’s Queen.

West Wizard won with any amount in hand, and it was a performance which saw him installed as ante post favourite for the 2014 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival before he had even jumped a hurdle in public.

However, he failed to justify odds of 1/6 when runner-up at this venue to Sgt Reckless on hurdling debut, and after a lengthy spell on the sidelines got tunrd over at 2/9 when runner-up to Azral here.

West Wizard then finished to Minella Rocco back in February, again at this venue, before disappointing in the Imperial Cup.

He then finanly opened his account over hurdels with a facile success at this track in May when winning heavily eased down by seven lengths.

The six-year-old has since joined Nigel Twiston-Davies earlier this month, and makes his debut over fences for his new handler of a mark of just 129.

That looks very exploitable given that the two horses he finsihed runner-up to earlier in his career – Sgt Reckless and SArzal – are now rated 144 and 149 over frences respectively.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win West Wizard (7/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
