Tippering looks terrific at 6s
Sue Smith has her team in terrific form and Tippering makes plenty of appeal at 6/1 to give her another winner in the 2.25 at Wetherby today.
The six-year-old went into my notebook as a sure fire future winner when an eye-catching fourth of 16 to Dot Or Feather at this track two weeks ago.
The gelding raced with plenty of enthusiasm at the head of affairs and only weakened out of contention close home to be beaten just under four lengths.
That was his first run for five months, and the way he ran suggested that he would come on a bundle for it.
The handicapper has left him unchanged on a mark of 104 for today’s contest, and that could be on the lenient side given his unexposed profile.
The step up in trip today should also suit the son of Flemensfirth and everything looks in place for a huge run.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Tippering (6/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
8/1 Dancer can waltz to success
Rebel Dancer could be one step ahead of the handicapper and looks cracking each-way value at 8/1 in the 3.25 at Wetherby.
Ian Williams gelding developed into a useful sort last season and looks the type to keep on the right side in the coming months.
He put in a cracking effort when chasing home Tocca Ferro in a listed handicap hurdle at Newbury off a mark of 120 and was still going well in the valuable Totesport trophy at the same track when coming to grief two from home.
The six-year-old was then far from disgraced when finishing a never nearer 9th of 22 to Eradicate in the ultra competitive Swinton Hurdle at Haydock on his final start over the sticks.
Both his last runs came off a mark of 127, and he starts this season on a 2lb lower mark.
Given the strength of the races he competed in that gives him a huge chance from a handicapping perspective in this class 3 contest which although competitive is the weakest event he has tackled for some time.
Another plus is that he comes into this after a recent spin on the flat so fitness will definitely not be an issue.
I think he is entitled to be favourite this afternoon, so at the 8/1 on offer he looks overpriced and terrific each-way play.
Daily Sport recommended bet; 3pts each-way Rebel Dancer (8/1 bet365, Betfred, Ladbrokes – BOG))
